At Finger Lakes ReUse we constantly strive to improve our service to the community. As our programs grow and we increase waste diversion, we want to continue to provide the best service we can to our supporters, donors and customers. To maintain a high level of service as our programs mature, we are relocating sales of computers and electronics, formerly done through our eCenter storefront, to our ReUse Center effective May 1st. Streamlining the sales process in this way allows us to improve customer service, more effectively handle and process the growing volume of donated materials, and preserve living wage jobs. All the same great computers, electronics, and accessories you are used to finding at the eCenter will be available at the ReUse Center EVERY DAY in the Triphammer Mall. Stop in soon and see our new, more efficient layout!

Spring Deconstruction Volunteer Events
Last month 27 volunteers (students, community members, and staff from Ithaca College, Cornell Sustainable Design Club (CUSD), Cornell Environmental Law Society, and others) donated 89 hours of volunteer labor to assist in the deconstruction of a house next door to Joe's Restaurant in Ithaca. We were able to preserve a tremendous amount of valuable material that would otherwise end up in landfills.Click here to see the deconstruction in progress!
End of School Year Pickup Service
Spring Laptop Drop in Collegetown in May
Every year departing college students are faced with a challenge - what to do with items they don't want to transport with them when they leave town but that are still in good working order? Unfortunately, even with several local groups combining efforts to preserve these materials, too many of these items get thrown out. Finger Lakes ReUse serves as a convenient alternative. We offer a FREE pick-up for college students leaving town after the semester’s end as well as a "Laptop Drop" in Collegetown. We accept items in reusable and working condition including building materials, furniture, appliances, used computers, collectibles and more! Click here for the full list of acceptable items.
Technology Apprenticeship and Leadership Program
The Ithaca Youth Bureau Computer All Stars and Finger Lakes ReUse eCenter have created a pioneering youth Technology Apprenticeship and Leadership Program (TALP) to train school students, aged 16-18 years. We hope to offer TALP four times a year in ten-week installments. Workshops equip students with computer savvy skills – including how to network, test and install hardware and operating systems and solve open source software problems. Students learn set-up, use and basic repair of printers, scanners, copiers, and back-up devices. Each participant learns how to diagnose, refurbish, upgrade, and repair computers before the program’s end. Graduates from the program earn a Certification of Completion in Technology and Leadership.
